7th Grade has finished the unit on Ancient Egypt and are completing a Mummified Apples in Canopic Jars STEM Challenge. The challenge is to design to a Canopic Jar using one of the four sons of Horus as the top. Then, the students are to place a cut apple into the jar and test either salt, baking soda, vinegar or sugar. Out of the four slices, they must have a control group to measure mummification process. For next several days, the students will record their observations. After writing their results and reflections, the class will discuss which mixtures worked best to preserve the apple slices.
